We are also looking for guest bloggers, so do consider if that could be something for you. If you would like to write about life as a student, queer life, life in Copenhagen or all of these, do contact us on info@blus.dk, and we will give you some space on the blog. One post a month is all we are expecting. If you fall over something you think should be posted for everyone to see, send it to us, and we will put it up. Voluntary work is what keeps the BLUS heart pumping. All activities are planned and arranged by volunteers, from the pre-semester brainstorming around ideas, to handing the last beer of the evening over the counter. BLUS is nothing without the people who use it, and no contribution is too small. Everyone who attends an event has a part in keeping the organization going. If you would like to do some work with BLUS, there are many different possibilities.

Every Wednesday and for our parties, we need bartenders. By signing up for the bar team you commit to doing one shift a month. Working in the bar is a good way to get to know people, and you get a feeling of what BLUS work is like. Write to bar@blus.dk if you are interested.

 

You can sign up for helping out with one of our long term projects. Find out more about what you can do under the Projects-tab.

 

The board of BLUS can always use new hands. The general assembly is held in March each year, and anyone who is interested in board work can run for the board. Working on the board will give you lots of organizational experience, and a lot of skills, and a lot of new contacts. Come talk to us at a BLUS event, or write to board@blus.dk if you have got questions. Ahoy, jump on board!

 

You decide. Anyone can come with ideas and opinions as to what BLUS should do and be. Don’t hesitate to use BLUS as a platform for realizing your ideas.

]]> BLUS Study group is a network of people interested in dealing with issues of gender and sexuality from an academic or activism point of view. The network can be used to create workshops and study sessions, to go on excursions, and to share information and knowledge.The goal is to attract people from all fields, also the ones for whom gender and sexuality aren’t topics on the curriculum, and to combine the theoretical discussion with reflections on how knowledge can be used practically. We want to host at least three workshops per semester. Look out for the upcoming events in the BLUS event calender, and join the facebook group. We are looking for people to get involved in the planning and arranging of activities, and you are welcome to send us an e-mail if you think it could be something for you. No prior knowledge is needed, only interest and curiosity.

 

You can get involved in this project by:

 

- sending in an idea for a theme or topic you would like for the group to take up

- spreading info on relevant resources and events, via fb or the mailing list

- initiating an excursion to a lecture/exhibition/another interesting place or happening

- becoming a part of the group planning and arranging the study group events

- something else, it is up to you!

]]> We are planning a campaign which will run in the spring of 2013. BLUS will visit universities around Copenhagen to make BLUS known among students and to promote and lgbtq awareness generally. One idea is to visit student cafés and Friday bars, and we will also create some visual campaign material. Maybe we will do some special events or happenings at the schools, and we would love to involve activists or artists. Nothing is set in stone yet, as ideas and concepts around the campaign are being developed. If you would like to help out with the campaign, at your school or at all schools, do write to us.

 

You can get involved in this project by:

- becoming a part of the group creating the campaign

- helping out with practical stuff when BLUS comes to your school

- distributing info material

- something else, it is up to you!

]]> BLUS wants to create an environment that is interesting and relevant to girls and women, as well as to all other genders. During this year we are working on strengthening the network of girls in and around BLUS, and we want to make sure that girl experience and talent is always well represented in our program. We are planning a cultural festival focusing on female artists for next spring.

 

You can get involved in this project by:

 

- spreading information on BLUS in your network

- sharing ideas of events you would like BLUS to make (and helping out realizing them)

- initiating activities (excursions, parties, meet-ups etc)

- becoming a part of the group working on the festival

- something else, it is up to you!
